In an effort to continuously improve safety at its schools, the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is implementing a new guest management system on its campuses.

The new Raptor Technologies guest management system will allow front office personnel in each school to screen visitors to ensure that registered sex offenders are not entering school buildings.

Beginning Sept. 28, visitors to all schools in the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District will be required to present a photo ID. Raptor uses the ID to instantly check the sex offender registry for every state. It can also check a district created list of individuals who should not be allowed on campus.

The software does not check criminal history, which by law requires written consent of the individual and a qualifying reason for a criminal background check.
